Hull City Green

Hull City Green aims to create new woodland at 15 sites across the city of Hull, a part of the country with one of the lowest levels of accessible woodland. The project is funded by the New Opportunities Fund and is a partnership between the Woodland Trust, Hull City Council, National Urban Forestry Unit and British Trust for Conservation Volunteers.

Over the next three years, local community groups, youth groups and schools will take part in identifying areas for new woodland and in planting the trees. As part of the project, all existing areas of woodland will be mapped to provide a long term basis for developing a network of accessible green space across the city.

Planting began in autumn 2004, with a community event and series of schools events.
