Thornhill BEC

Thornhill Tree for Life Garden 2005

"Thornhill BEC has had a very successful year. We have planted the Thornhill Tree for Life Garden 2005 in our school grounds. This included our hazel hedge provided free by yourselves, and over 50 British broadleaf trees which we bought from the Woodland Trust Shop at a very reasonable price. Our project also won the prestigious Making Waves in your Community as the Best Environmental Project 2005 for a Senior school which was awarded by Northumbrian Water and the Young Peoples Trust for the Environment. The whole school were involved - staff, pupils, office staff, cleaners, partner schools Barbara Priestman and Seaview who raised the money for the trees in a variety of ways and then helped me plant them all.

"I am happy to report that our trees and hedge are thriving and there are plans to plant more trees in the autumn as well as underplant the trees with bulbs.

"Thank you for your support"
