HELP CREATE A WILDFLOWER MEADOW

The Woodland Trust Scotland is inviting people to join them to create a wildflower meadow at Geordie’s Wood on Saturday 16th September.

Over the next couple of years, the Trust will create a forest of flowers on former agricultural land. Planting seeds this autumn will result in a beautiful display of wildflowers next summer and will create a home for a diverse insect population.

Participants should park in Muckhart village and make their way to the entrance of Muckhart Kirk graveyard for 9.45am, departing at 10.00am. There will be a short uphill walk to the planting site. Participants should wear warm waterproof clothing and sturdy shoes/boots. Please bring a bucket.

This is part of the Forest of Flowers project which has been funded through the Biodiversity Action Grant Scheme (BAGs)1, jointly funded by Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) and the Scottish Executive.

Notes to editors
1. The BAGS scheme was launched by the Scottish Executive in 2004 alongside the Scottish Biodiversity Strategy to support small biodiversity projects that directly implement the strategy. Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) took over the administration of the scheme this year.
