LETTING THE LIGHT IN
Woodland Trust Scotland continues to enhance Livingston woods
The Woodland Trust Scotland is embarking on a tree thinning programme this week in two of its woods. It is all part of a programme of work by the Trust to improve the quality of woodland for wildlife for quiet informal public recreation. Work will commence this week and is expected to be completed by December
James Gilmour, Woodland Officer for Livingston explains: “The work will take place in North Wood and East Woods. By thinning out the trees, we will be able to open the woods to more sunlight. This will encourage native broadleaved trees to seed and encourage more plants and animals into the area and make the woodland more enjoyable for people using the woods.”
While works are taking place, people are still welcome to visit the woods. The Trust asks that people take heed of the warning signs that are in place. It may be necessary in some occasions to temporarily close paths for safety reasons. The Woodland Trust apologises for any inconvenience this may cause. For further information contact James Gilmour on 01620 830670
The work is supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund.
