As part of the Trafalgar Woods Project, marking the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar, the Trust has a brilliant opportunity to restore 348 acres of barren farmland into a flagship site - Victory Wood.
The Woodland Trust has successfully fundraised to buy the land, which sits within a nationally important area of woodland known as the Blean Woods Complex. The Blean comprises of over 7,000 acres of ancient woodland making the second largest area of ancient woodland in England and is recorded to be over 1,000 years old.
Victory Wood sits right in the heart of the Blean, in Dargate near Canterbury, and links up woodland to the West and East. With stunning panoramic views including the Isle of Sheppey, Essex Coast and the Sea the land provides not only a fitting flagship site for Victory Wood but also a very pleasant walk for all visitors.
We are now seeking a further £1 million to restore the land to woodland – a task that will involve children and the community in the development and planting of the land. Your help in supporting this project would not only be greatly appreciated but widely acknowledged.
