Merry Hill apples win awards at horticultural show
Apples from the Merry Hill orchard, which were entered into a competition at the local Bushey Horticultural Show, recently won first and second prize.
The small orchard at Merry Hill had been planted over the years, as part of the newly created woodland at this 68 hectare (168 acre) urban site.
A group of volunteers then raised enough money to purchase and plant trees, as well as sourcing local, and unusual species.
Pam Rivers says: 'There was only four apples on the little tree that won 1st prize, so we were really overjoyed to win.'
