Remembering Doctor Barnardo

In 2005 it will be 100 years since the death of Barnardo’s famous founder, Dr Thomas Barnardo. The Woodland Trust is teaming up with the charity to pay tribute to this great man - and help a group of children to have the chance to discover our wonderful woods.

“When we created Tree For All, we really meant it when we said we wanted it to help children from all walks of life to get in touch with nature,” said Andy Beer, our campaign development manager. “This partnership is a great opportunity to introduce children and young people, who perhaps otherwise wouldn’t visit the woods, to explore the beauty of the countryside. It’s a real chance for them to make a connection with nature.”

Next autumn, up to 30 groups of young people being supported by the charity will plant trees all across the UK. And, as an extra bonus, schools who raise money for Barnardo’s will receive a tree, which they can plant in their own grounds, or we will plant it for them in a new Barnardo’s grove.
