Trafalgar Woods is the latest way to get involved with Tree For All. Not only does it mark the bi-centenary of the Battle of Trafalgar by creating new woods, reminding people that Nelson’s entire fleet was built from British timber, it gives you a chance to find out if someone with your surname fought in the battle.
Visit our new Trafalgar Woods website and you can enter your name into a fantastic search facility. If the name is found it will tell you the crewman’s rank, age and place of birth and, for some, even a description of their character and appearance. The site has a whopping 18,000 crewmen listed. Could one be a relative of yours?
You can also find out about how we’re planting 33 new woods all over the UK to mark the occasion, one for every ship in the Trafalgar Fleet. It will tell you about woods near you and events you can enjoy.
There’s even information for schools so that pupils can discover the fascinating links between woods and that historic battle.
So come aboard and visit the Trafalgar website and see if you can add a new branch to your family tree.
