Project receives praise as it wins award
The Woodland Trust’s Broxbourne project has recently won the Natural Environment category at the Biffaward Awards. The award was open to projects that had received funding from Biffaward, under the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme, and were completed between 1 April 2005 and 31 March 2006.
Each project was judged on its achievements, sustainability, community empowerment, environmental improvement, quality of finished result and value for money. The judges particularly liked the oak sculptures, walker’s leaflets and beer mats, which, they said, made the project stand out from the others.
Two Trust representatives attended the award ceremony at the Northmoor Trust in Oxfordshire in October 2006.
Mark Brown, Grants Officer says: ‘I would like to thank everyone at the Trust involved in this project for making it such a success. I would also like to thank all the partners for their hard work and dedication. This project highlights what can be achieved by working in partnership with other organisations. The project will encourage the local communities around Broxbourne to access their natural environment and enjoy the benefits of woodland.’
