Go green with Big Blue

Go green by dipping into the Big Blue

Yorkshire acoustic five-piece the Big Blue, is helping raise funds for national environmental charity The Woodland Trust, with the launch of its latest seven-track EP, A Small Drop In The Ocean.

The new release was recorded over several months and showcases the band’s latest work. It is on sale at a £5 cover price, with £1 from every disc sold going to the Trust. To hear tracks and buy a copy of the disc, log on to www.thebigbluewebsite.co.uk

The Big Blue is fronted by singer and songwriter Richard Wheater, who has already helped raise hundreds of pounds for the Trust by running the 2006 Flora London Marathon dressed as a tree.

Richard says: “Born and raised within a Yorkshire green belt, I benefited from close access to both the countryside and the city - though over the years the balance has changed. The green belt resembles more a thin piece of string. The tree house hideaways have since become tarmac drive ways.

“The songs are observations and memories on the subject matter mentioned above and the tensions between the natural environment and its human governor.”

The band is continuing to perform at a string of venues in and around Leeds during the next few months.
